Digging out of your Training, Support, and Presentation Hole with Camtasia Studio PDF Print E-mail

Tom has a dilemma. There has been an upgrade to the Line of Business software package his company uses. He’s getting lots of questions from co-workers about how to use a new feature, and it seems he is the only person who knows how to do it. Tom’s a nice guy, but it is taking time away from his other duties to stop and show users (sometimes more than once) how to use the new feature. What can Tom do to help keep everyone happy and productive, including TOM?

Camtasia is the answer to Tom’s quandary. With this software created by TechSmith, he can record his computer screen in video format and make the recording available for other users to watch as many times as they need to in order to learn how to use the new software upgrade.

Tom pulls out his computer headset, and loads up Camtasia. A few minutes later, and he has his screen recording done, with voice narration included, showing him move step-by-step through the new features of the upgraded software. He saves his work as a video file, and puts it on the server where everyone can get to it.

Just one more step…Tom sends out an email telling them where to find the video so they can watch it and learn how to use the new features. Meanwhile, Tom is back to work and catching up on his to-do list.

Camtasia Studio 5.0 can be downloaded as a Free 30-day Trial, and normally costs $299. Here’s the link:

Camtasia Studio also records Powerpoint presentations, so you can record your sales presentation and put it online, or perhaps even email it to your prospects to view, saving you hours or days of travel! Get a webcam for your PC, and Camtasia will let you add your own video recording in a PIP (Picture in Picture) or side by side, while you record! Clients can see you and watch your desktop at the same time! You can even add other tracks (music or other video) and even add credits. Camtasia also lets you add interactivity so you can create “simulations” to help train people on software. And yes, it will do quizzes, too!
